Are You Prepared? Basic Preparedness: 72-Hour Survival Kit

We know disasters strike when we least expect them. They become great levelers in the aftermath, causing irreparable damages to lives and property. Given the magnitude of its effects, we must ask ourselves, "Am I prepared?"

Acting on this premise, the Philippine Red Cross is campaigning to encourage all households to be smart and assemble their own 72-hour survival kit. Preparedness spells the difference in the crucial first 72 hours of a disaster as they wait for assistance to arrive.

This survival kit is recommended by the Philippine Red Cross but of course, you can personalize its contents according the members and the needs of your family. You can exclude some items or include additional things that suit your needs. Also make sure to store the items in water-proof containers or bags that can be easily accessed in case you need to leave your house or bug-out. And this blog being Budget Prepper, the above items need not be branded and expensive items. And it doesn't need to be bought all at the same time. You can take a few hundred pesos out of your bi-monthly salary and buy the above items one-by-one or by batch until you complete the whole kit.

REMEMBER: It's always better to have a little preparation than none at all.
